Born in Kragujevac, Serbia, region well known for talented musicians, Violeta  graduated with high marks at the elementary music school, and the music high school in Kragujevac. During education had many public performances and in 1977 won the first prize at the State competition in Pula, and in 1983 the first prize at the young opera singers competition in Belgrade. Violeta continued her education in Sarajevo where she graduated at the Music Academy, opera singing, class of Radmila Smiljanic. During her studies she took part in many operas as a soloist on the Sarajevo Opera House stage and the philharmonic orchestra concerts, also participating in works of modern composers. After finishing studies at the Academy she became the youngest soloist of the Sarajevo Opera House. Violeta also appeared in concerts in Ljubljana, Skopje, Sarajevo, Belgrade, Florence, Ferrara (Teatro Comunale), Israel (Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa).

In April 1992 the unquestionable success of Violeta Sreckovic in Sarajevo music life was cut short due to the tragic war events. Everything had to start from the beginning, but, as all great talents she found her place again. In December of 1992 she was on the stage of the Serbian National Theatre Novi Sad as a soloist. In 1994 she continued her studies for MD at the Novi Sad Music Academy, class of professor Vera Kovacs Vitkay. In this Novi Sad period she appeared on two concerts in Athena and on many concerts all across former Yugoslavia. Besides great engagement on her main stage she appeared in many TV shows on RTV, Novi Sad and RTV of Yugoslavia. With the role of Gana in May Night by N. R. Korsakov she took part on BEMUS (The Belgrade Music Festival) and achieved great success according to the audience and the critics alike. Besides great qualities as a singer, her talent for acting has been also noticed, so she was given the role of Kostana in the famous drama "Kostana" by Bora Stankovic.
